Trendsplant Report. Vol.I: Should we celebrate our birthday in 2020?

On:

Reaching this point in the calendar means blowing out candles, recalling another year of adventures, changes, ups and downs, recruitments, new garments and products, and most importantly, learning a lot.

Our birthday as a brand was last November, many of you missed this date. We didn’t want to make this a celebration, it’s not our priority right now. We prefer to focus on our work implementing all the improvements possible at Trendsplant. This birthday is much more than a celebration of the eleven years since we began. We are very lucky to be writing these lines. 2020 has taught us a lot, in the hardest way possible.

These are some of the aspects we’ve spent many hours working on in recent months. Luckily for us, the lockdown was a turning point, an opportunity to improve. One improvement you can read below, the Trendsplant Report, where from now on we will recount our progress on a quarterly basis.

  • Masks for all but not forever. 6 April was a turning point for Trendsplant. We launched a new product and ran out of stock in a few days. After spending several weeks locked down, never in our wildest dreams did we think we would hit such a milestone.
  • Total redesign of our website. We took advantage of the lockdown to completely change our approach to e-commerce. We'd been working on it for some time but never found the right moment to implement it. Now we explain each product and the fabrics comprising our garments much better. We’ve developed a set of icons to help you see all the information quickly and also improved the checkout, shipping and return process.
  • Donation of masks. The opportunity to develop a new product like masks gave us an advantage during the first lockdown, when they were scarce. Our motto is that our activity must have a positive impact in the vicinity, so we decided to donate masks to the Alicante, San Juan and Villajoyosa hospitals.
  • The family grows. If someone told us in March that we would expand the team during the pandemic, we wouldn’t have believed it. We got to attract talent at a difficult time full of uncertainty, and that makes us feel very, very lucky.
  • We extend returns and shipments. We increased the deadline for returns to 30 days and offered a new delivery option outside Spain (“Express”) at a reasonable price. We've extend domestic shipping: the customer doesn't have to bear higher costs but gets their order quicker than usual.
  • 1% for the planet. We joined this international international where its members contribute at least one per cent of their annual sales to environmental causes. The mission of this organisation is to "build, support, and activate an alliance of businesses financially committed to creating a healthy planet."
  • Certified cotton. We are very proud to have launched a set of garments under the slogan “organic essentials”, taking us further along the road towards sustainability. Those items are manufactured entirely in Portugal from GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) certified organic cotton.
  • Containers for your everyday use. Don’t forget our bottles free of BPA, phthalates or other harmful substances with non-toxic exterior coatings, another of our GREEN LABEL products. We make them in collaboration with Laken, a Spanish firm that has spent more than 100 years manufacturing liquid containers just 100 kilometers from our headquarters in Alicante.
  • Bamboo for your feet. Who would have known socks made from bamboo thread would be the most comfortable socks in your drawer? Everything cotton, polyester and wool does, bamboo does better. These socks have a natural component called "bamboo kun" which has great antibacterial capacity, absorbs almost twice as much moisture as cotton, controls temperature and prevents irritation due to its high breathability.
  • More SEAQUAL fabric. We have been using this fabric made from plastic bottles collected from different seas for a couple of seasons in our swimsuits. Now we also use it in towels and masks, helping to make this planet a better place in the future. Marest returns to Trendsplant.
  • Antonyo Marest is with us once more. Needless to say, we love his style. Several weeks ago we launched a new line of masks with his designs, which are inspired by The Mediterranean Sea.
